Right on the water in Pascagoula: a FORTIFIED replacement in three weeks

An aging roof south of the interstate, a homeowner travelling for most of the job, and a two-day install she approved the morning after the estimate.

The situation

Nothing had failed yet. The roof had a couple of weak spots, but what prompted the call was age, and the neighbors: houses around her were getting new roofs, and she knew hers was due.

She is in Pascagoula, about forty-five minutes east of our Gulfport office, and right off the water. On this coast the landmark for storm exposure is Interstate 10 — south of it is where the wind and rain land first — and she is well south of it.

What we did

We inspected on June 25 and sent the estimate the same day. She approved it the next morning.

Because of where the house sits, we recommended the FORTIFIED Roof standard. From the street the roof is the same shingle her neighbors have; the difference is under it. If a storm takes shingles off, the house stays dry until we can get there.

  • Full tear-off, deck inspected and repaired.
  • Self-adhering ice-and-water membrane across the entire deck, instead of synthetic felt.
  • Sealed starter course at eaves and rakes; drip edge fastened every four inches.
  • Power ventilation replaced.
  • Every product and every install step photographed with location data, as the FORTIFIED evaluator requires.

She was travelling for most of the job. We sent updates as the work moved — where the crew was, how much was left, what we had found in the deck — so there were no surprises when she got home.

The result

Materials were checked on July 13, the crew started on the 14th, and the roof was finished on the 15th. Nineteen days from first inspection to a completed, certified FORTIFIED roof.

One scuff on the stucco at the front was patched before we closed the job out. She told us the communication was what she appreciated most.

Your roof could be the next one

A free inspection, an honest repair-or-replace answer, and — if we do the work — a roof we would put our name under.
