Residential Roof Inspections on the Mississippi Gulf Coast

Gulf South Roofing inspects homes across the Mississippi Gulf Coast from its Gulfport office, free of charge. Inspections are performed by project managers and documented in photographs — of your actual roof — so the findings can be verified by you, your insurer or a buyer. If the roof is fine, that is what you hear.

Scope

What does a roof inspection include?

An inspection is worth what its documentation is worth. Every Gulf South Roofing inspection covers the same checklist and produces the same artifact: photographs of your roof with findings you can verify.

In the order it happens on your roof

Six stages

  1. Granule loss documented across a shingle field during a Gulf South Roofing inspection

    The field

Shingle or panel condition across every elevation — granule loss, lifted tabs, fastener back-out, oil-canning, punctures and patching from previous repairs.

  2. Chimney flashing examined during a residential roof inspection

    Flashing and penetrations

Chimney, wall and valley flashing, pipe boots and vents — where most leaks actually start, and the first place we look.

  3. Roof edge and hip detail checked during an inspection

    Edges and gutters

Drip edge, fascia condition and gutter attachment. Wind damage begins at the edge, and so does the evidence of it.

  4. Roof decking checked from below during an attic inspection

    The attic, where accessible

Staining, daylight, wet insulation and ventilation from below — half of what a roof is doing is only visible from inside.

  5. A missing shingle tab photographed as an inspection finding

    Photographed findings

Every observation is photographed. You see pictures of your own roof, not a diagram of a generic one.

  6. A Gulf South Roofing project manager walking a homeowner through inspection findings

    A straight recommendation

Repair, monitor or replace — with the reasoning. If the roof is fine, the report says the roof is fine.

When to call

Roof inspection services in Gulfport and across the Gulf Coast

What should I do after a storm crosses the coast?

Get the roof inspected before the next rain finds what the wind started — most storm damage is invisible from the ground and gets worse while it waits.

  • Wind evidence: Creased tabs, lifted edges and fastener pull — documented while it is fresh.
  • Hail and impact: Bruising and fractures that will not leak until months later.
  • Claim-ready photos: Documentation your insurer can use, dated and attributed.

Had a small roof leak after a heavy rain event, but they were able to come the next day for the repair. Polite, on time, quick work. They showed me before/after pics and explained what happened. Very very reasonable.

I live only in MS part time and we discovered our roof had some damage from limbs that came down. Blake was prompt, they did a great job on my repairs, and even talked me through options on how the color could vary. He even went back and got the extra shingles put away for us.

Roof inspection FAQs — Gulfport & the Mississippi Gulf Coast

How much does a roof inspection cost?

Residential roof inspections and estimates are free. The formal written condition report for a sale or an insurer is quoted as a defined product.

The free inspection ends in a walkthrough of what we found and a recommendation, not an obligation. Where a transaction needs a formal document — pre-purchase, pre-listing, claim support — that report is quoted separately so its scope and deliverable are defined up front. Call (228) 231-1630 to schedule either.

How do I know if my roof has storm damage?

Mostly, you don’t — from the ground. Creased tabs, bruised shingles and lifted flashing are invisible until they leak, which is why post-storm inspections exist.

After a wind or hail event, look for shingle pieces in the yard, lifted gutter edges and interior stains — then get the roof walked regardless, because the damage that matters most is the kind that waits a season before it shows.

Will you inspect my roof for an insurance claim?

Yes. We document condition with dated photographs your insurer can use, and we can be present when the adjuster visits.

We are the local contractor documenting what is actually on the roof — which is exactly why the documentation is useful.

Do you inspect commercial roofs?

Yes, as a separate paid service with its own page — commercial roof inspections for businesses, property managers and insurers.

This page covers homes. For buildings, see commercial roof inspections under commercial roofing.

How often should a roof be inspected on the Gulf Coast?

Every two to three years for a roof past its first decade, and after any named storm or significant wind event.

Coastal UV, humidity and wind age a roof faster than inland conditions. The habit that saves money is catching flashing and fastener issues while they are still maintenance items.

Where do you inspect roofs?

Across Hancock, Harrison and Jackson counties from our Gulfport office at 2811 26th Avenue.

That includes Gulfport, Biloxi, Long Beach, Pass Christian, D’Iberville, Diamondhead, Bay St. Louis, Waveland, Ocean Springs, Pascagoula, Moss Point and St. Martin.
