Roof Replacement on the Mississippi Gulf Coast
Gulf South Roofing replaces residential roofs across the Mississippi Gulf Coast from its Gulfport office. The company is a licensed, insured, FORTIFIED-certified installer, which means a roof can be built and third-party inspected to the IBHS standard for coastal wind. Every replacement carries a 3-, 5- or 10-year workmanship warranty.

Scope
What does a roof replacement include?
A Gulf South Roofing replacement is a full tear-off and rebuild of the roof system, not a covering laid over the old one. Each of the following is part of every residential replacement we do.
In the order it happens on your roof
Seven stages
Stage 1 — full tear-off to the deckFull tear-off
The old roof comes off down to the deck. We do not install roof-overs — a second layer hides the deck, and the deck is where problems live.
Stage 2 — deck inspection and repairDeck inspection and repair
With the covering off we can see the decking. Deteriorated or delaminated sheathing is identified and replaced before anything goes back down.
Stage 3 — ice-and-water shield in the valley, underlayment across the fieldUnderlayment and leak barrier
Ice-and-water shield in the valleys, where the roof concentrates water, plus underlayment across the field per the manufacturer specification. On every shingle roof we install a starter shingle at the eaves and rakes — the sealed first course the wind rating depends on.
Flashing and edge metal: step and counter flashing run up a brick chimney, bent in our own Gulfport shop.Flashing and edge metal
New drip edge, valley metal, and step and counter flashing. Custom profiles are bent in our own Gulfport sheet metal shop rather than ordered in.
Installing the roof system: the field laid to the manufacturer nailing pattern and offset, hips and ridges cut and capped.Installing the roof system
The covering goes down over the dried-in deck — starter course, then the field laid to the manufacturer nailing pattern and offset, hips and ridges cut and capped. This is the stage the warranty is written against.
Stage 5 — ridge vent and intake ventilationVentilation
Ridge and intake ventilation assessed and corrected as part of the system — an unbalanced attic shortens the life of whatever is above it.
Stage 6 — daily cleanup and the final walkthroughDaily cleanup and final walkthrough
The site is cleaned each day, not only at the end, and we walk the finished roof with you before we close the job out.

Roof Replacement Services in Gulfport and the Mississippi Gulf Coast
What goes on most Gulf Coast homes?
Architectural shingle is the most common residential replacement we install on the coast, laid over a sealed deck with ice-and-water shield in every valley.
- Deck first: Sheathing is inspected and repaired before any covering goes down.
- Valleys sealed: Ice-and-water shield where the roof concentrates the most water.
- Manufacturer spec: Installed to the manufacturer standard and Mississippi code, not to whatever is fastest.

Roof Replacement FAQs for Gulfport & the Mississippi Gulf Coast
What does a roof replacement cost on the Mississippi Gulf Coast?
It depends on the size of the roof, its complexity, and the system you choose.
Roof size, pitch, the number of penetrations and valleys, the condition of the decking underneath, and whether you choose shingle, metal or a FORTIFIED upgrade all move the number. Rather than publish a range that would not apply to your roof, we walk it, photograph it and put a written estimate in your hands at no cost. Call (228) 231-1630 or request a free estimate.
How long does a roof replacement take?
Most residential replacements take one to three days on site.
A standard residential replacement usually runs one to three days depending on the size of the roof, how complex the design is, and the weather. Decking repairs found after tear-off can add time, which is one reason we photograph the deck and tell you what we find rather than discovering it silently.
How do I know whether I need a replacement or a repair?
A rep inspects the roof, photographs it, and shows you the condition before recommending anything.
A five-year-old roof with a failed pipe boot is a repair. An end-of-life roof where digging into the shingles would break more of them is a replacement, and we will show you why with photographs of your own roof. We say so when a repair is the right answer — including when it means a smaller job for us.
Are you licensed, insured and certified?
Yes — licensed and insured in Mississippi, and certified to install to the IBHS FORTIFIED standard.
Gulf South Roofing is licensed and insured in Mississippi and is a certified FORTIFIED installer. FORTIFIED roofs must be installed by a certified contractor and inspected by an independent third-party evaluator, because roofing companies are not permitted to inspect their own work for the designation.
Do you offer financing options for roof replacement?
Yes — through our partner Hearth, with 3–7 year terms and pre-qualification that takes about two minutes without affecting your credit score.
Financing turns a replacement into a monthly number instead of a lump sum, at rates typically below credit cards and with zero equity required. Your estimate includes the financing option if you want it.
Where do you replace residential roofs?
Hancock, Harrison and Jackson counties on the Mississippi Gulf Coast — all 17 cities we serve.
Residential replacement covers the three coastal counties — Hancock, Harrison and Jackson — and every city in them. Harrison County: Gulfport, Biloxi, Long Beach, Pass Christian, D'Iberville, Lyman and Saucier; Hancock County: Diamondhead, Bay St. Louis, Waveland and Kiln; Jackson County: Ocean Springs, Pascagoula, Moss Point, St. Martin, Vancleave and Gautier. Commercial roofing is a separate division with its own pages.
